2010 Contributions...

There's a play on words...  As a result of promoting making contributions to 401ks in 2010, I will soon be making some new contributions to this little blog.  Made reservations yesterday for client visit in April...  extended those reservations through the weekend to check out the beach.  KP & I are going to continue with our girls quasi-long weekend this year and check out Charleston.  I know I was there last year too.  It's like my little slice of Bermuda away from home.  We're gonna check out the beach.  Check out the bridge.  And some other fun things.  We are both looking forward to it.

And in other beach news.  I have confirmed some time away from the office in June.  KF & I (oh and Bacchus) are taking a road trip to NJ.  I hesitate to use the term Jersey Shore anymore as it could conjure up horrible visions of that nasty tv show that is nothing like my home town (is it a gene that when referencing a NJ home town that you have to think of that Springsteen song?).  We have yet to hammer out the details.  But we will be taking in the city as well.  KF has NEVER been - how fun!  And I think there is an obligatory yoga and potentially zumba class I will have to take while there.

Let's hope this year I get to see more beaches (oh yeh - Mark & Lisa's wedding will be a beach trip too - yippee) and dont leave vacay on the table.

Sunset

Comforts of home - not sure how I feel about that

HNT - Toes Toes Toes

The Beach

On the last day we went to the beach. It was nice to sit and watch the waves. The waves were crazy rough. The ocean just spit me right out on the beach.

Inside the Atlantis Aquarium

It was interesting that you need to pay to even walk around the hotel. And the hotel was crazy crowded with cruise ship tours. All very odd. The aquarium was nice but I am still partial to Georgia.

Sailing and Snorkeling

Versailles Garden and Cloisters

Each morning I ran from the hotel around the island. Really it's just one road and I would run/walk to the end and back. I noticed this on my run and my mom really wanted to check it out. So we walked out there one morning and by chance the hotel was giving a tour as well. We learned a lot about how the gardens came to be, etc.

Atlantis from the outside

We walked over to Atlantis one of the first days of our visit. There were shops and a marina on that part of the island. Somehow the quick walk turned into a pretty long walk.

Not Very Eco-friendly

Unlike some of the eco-friendly vacations I have looked at before, I would say these do not qualify.

And look Bacchus has his own yacht.

My friend George has been doing lots of traveling and promoting eco-friendly travels. When I saw these I thought - nope, these aren't eco-friendly.

Our Hotel

Paradise Island Marina Beach Resort - or something like that. Most referred to it as the old Holiday Inn. It was a good location and not as much sensory overload as Atlantis.
There was a walkway over the water. You could see big fish on the non-swim side and a nice view back towards the beach.

It took some time to work up the nerve to go in the pool. For some reason it did not seem as warm as one would hope. But after a few days it was welcoming but not really warm.

The Bahamas - Paradise Island

View from our room. We could see Atlantis in the distance.
And one of the marinas. Cruise ships dock in the distance.
