Jellyfish

and a little bit of dinner hidden in the midst of it all...

Tropical Diver

Hey they weren't kidding.

BIG fish

And then you come out to the big tank.

I think they call it the wall of wow or something like that. I sat here a good 20 minutes. Again you can tell by all the pics I took.

Alcoves

When you come out of the tunnel there are various alcoves that you can explore to see what you can see in the varying vantage points. I'd say I lucked at being in the right place at the right time.

In the tunnel

DIVE Georgia Aquarrium

This is where my picture taking becomes more Eileen-like. In other words I took ALOT of pictures when walking under the BIG TANK.

I wish I could explain it in all the detail they provide as you make your way around this tank, but I think I spent most of my time with my mouth open in awe as I looked up and about at all the beautiful fish around me.

You can dive in the tank. Maybe I will save up my $$ and try that next time. Enjoy the pics.

Beluga Whales

I would say the number of pictures I took of these amzing mammals speaks volumes as to how entertaining they were. They moved about so beautifully in the water.

Cold Water Quest

I remember this is where my mood turned around the last time. Where I had that a-ha moment of - oh yes this is an aquarium alright. I was not wrong in wanting to come here. They have lots to see in this area. And hopefully the penguins will come back once all the work is done in that dolphin area.
I would say the otters around the back of the exhibit were stealing the show. They were so funny. I didn't get a picture. I could barely get close enough to see them. The one had 2 plastics "clams" he was trying to break open on the rocky shoreline. He had everyone laughing and mezmorized.
AHHH - and in true American tourist form - this woman yells out over the crowd to her husband in the distance - Honey, look, it's like you with your cell phone. Poor guy.
I eventually I worked my way around to the tank that had everyone's attention.

Dolphins

I keep going back and forth... I cannot remember if there was a dolphin exhibit the last time. I remember there were penquins but can't remember if there were dolphins in that area as well.
Well not to worry - they are building a far bigger dolphin area to be opened sometime next year.

River Scout

This exhibit explores not only the Georgia rviers but other rivers of the world. Of course they had piranha tanks. But I just enjoyed the unique aspect of these tanks. Many of them were overhead. Like you are looking up from the river bed as the fish swim by. There were gators too but you couldn't get near that tank.

Georgia Explorer

If you get there on a good day and it is not too crowded a handy guide will explain that the best way to see the aquarium is to start at your left and work your way around clockwise. I remember the first time I visited. I so wanted to go to the aquarium. And I feel like I was so over the top obnoxious about it. And this was the first exhibit. And I thought to myself - you've got to be kinding me... I made a big deal over this? Of course myself and my company at that time had all grown up near the beach so the concept of touching a starfish... not that exciting. Trth of the matter. I didn't really go in this exhibit this time around. It is VERY kid oriented. And even at 9am on a Saturday there were already loads of kids in there.

June Beach Visit

Well for June I knew that I would be going to Atlanta for work. I had scheduled the visit for a Wednesday - Friday time fram. And worked in an extra night to go check out the aquarium. Well I also was able to squeeze in some pizza and beer with an old friend while I was there. But as he headed to the heat of a Red Sox double header... I went to the aquarium.

Everyone should check it out at least once. This was my second visit.
